Materials and construction are high quality, and the leash detaches easily so you can throw the pad in the wash. But the most unique benefit of the GingerLead is that the connection of the handle and the leash gives you security from the front and the back at the same time. If my dog suddenly needs more support, or a squirrel dashes across our path - I can instantly react with either support of the back end or control of the front end - or both - as needed.
